It started on the road.

Before there was Wyrd Engine, there was Money Making Machine.

It began with transportation work: loads to move, miles to account for, and books that still needed tending when the driving was done. The aim was practical—to build tools that made sense to the people doing the work.

Wyrd Engine came later, growing out of that undertaking. The first project gave rise to a wider purpose: make useful things, keep an honest account of their worth, and leave the people using them better off.

Columns before code.

Before the platform came the trip reports.

Each row held an account of a load: where it came from, where it went, the miles between, and how it was settled. The sheets did the arithmetic, and they did the remembering.

Those records helped shape Money Making Machine, an operations platform for transportation and moving-services businesses, now growing into Tilian. Its starting point was the operator’s day—not an imagined workflow, but the work that needed doing.

Gearwian

A helping hand.

Gearwian grows from the same experience, with a purpose that reaches beyond transportation.

Its founding idea is simple: individual operators and small businesses need a helping hand with bookkeeping and the everyday tasks of keeping a business in order. Doing the work should not mean spending every spare hour catching up with the books.

Gearwian is being built to help shoulder that burden: keeping track of what needs doing, helping with the work, and leaving the operator in charge.

The aim is not to fill every saved hour with another task. It is to leave people time and attention for their own lives—whether on the road, at home, or in the stands at their kid’s ball game.

A business is a livelihood. It should leave room for a life.

The method

Create, build, test.

Create. Begin with a need worth meeting. Understand the work before deciding what to make.
Build. Make the tool fit the work, not the other way around. Help people carry their responsibilities without adding to their burden.
Test. Compare what the system reports with what actually happened. Keep what holds up. Set right what does not.
